Kia could be working on a large 100% electric SUV

The new adventure of Kia involves developing a large 100% electric SUV that will compete with the Tesla Model X.

Kia could be working on a large 100% electric SUV. Some say the Kia EV6 is only the beginning of a new range of cars. By 2025, the South Korean carmaker will launch up to seven 100% electric models, one of which will be the Kia Seltos, which could reach the market in 2022.

The specialist website Korean Car Blog has reported that internal sources at the brand indicate the development of a large SUV is planned, which could reach the market between 2023 and 2024. It could be called the Kia EV7 or Kia EV8 and could be the same size as the famous Kia Telluride. This could mean the SUV would offer seating for seven people across three rows of seats and a large cargo space.

This could be what the big brother of the Kia EV6

looks like.
At the same time, the Hyundai Ioniq 7, sibling to the future Kia EV7, could also reach the market, and they will share the E-GMP platform and structure, although the interiors will change completely. It is still early to see the concepts but, broadly speaking, the general design details could start to become known.

As we have mentioned, the new large 100% electric SUV from Kia will have three rows of seats and will only be offered with a dual-motor option delivering a total output of 310 CV. Added to this is a 100 kWh battery that could offer a range of more than 400 kilometres. It is no coincidence that these figures are quite similar to those of the Tesla Model X.

Hyundai and Kia are putting all their efforts into developing a large SUV that will compete directly with the Tesla Model X. However, these models will be much more affordable, since the Tesla Model X has a starting price of around 90,000 euros. If we focus on the Kia Telluride, the new Kia EV7 or Hyundai Ioniq 7 are unlikely to exceed 51,000 euros.
