Kia presents 350 kW chargers: 100 km of range in just 4.5 minutes

Kia has taken a key step in the transition to electric mobility in Spain by becoming the first mainstream car brand to roll out an ultra-fast charging network in the country. In collaboration with energy company EDP, the Korean brand has begun installing ultra-fast charging points of 150 and 350 kW at dealerships in its official network, distributed across Spanish territory. This initiative seeks to make fast charging more accessible to electric vehicle users, removing one of the main barriers to the adoption of this type of mobility: charging times.

The 350 kW charger, the most powerful in this new network, allows models such as the Kia EV6 and the Kia EV9 to recharge their batteries from 10% to 80% in less than 18 minutes, or to provide 100 kilometres of range in just 4.5 minutes. This charging speed is possible thanks to the advanced 800V technology these models incorporate, which places them at the forefront in terms of efficiency and performance. For other models in the range, such as the e-Niro, charging times extend to approximately 30 minutes.

Acto De Inauguración Del Cargador En San Sebastián De Los Reyes

The first charging point on this network was inaugurated at the Kia Retail dealership in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) at an event attended by Lucía Fernández, the town’s mayor. This charger, operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, is the first of more than 40 ultra-fast points that Kia and EDP will install at official dealerships across Spain.

This ultra-fast charging network not only improves the customer experience but also aims to boost the purchase of electrified vehicles. By offering significantly shorter charging times, Kia and EDP remove one of the main concerns of electric vehicle drivers: range anxiety. In addition, all charging points in this network will be integrated into the Kia Charge and EDP Move On platforms, allowing users to access more than 800,000 charging points across 29 European countries.

Ultra-fast charging for long journeys

The service has been designed to support customers during long trips, such as holiday journeys, and is reserved for those travelling outside the province where they live. Operation is simple: the chargers will be accessible through the Kia Charge and EDP Move On apps, as well as other national and international apps, ensuring interoperability for both Spanish and foreign users.

With this project, Kia reaffirms its commitment to sustainable mobility and continues to drive the infrastructure needed for the mass adoption of electric vehicles. The alliance with EDP and the launch of this ultra-fast network place the brand at the forefront of electric automotive innovation in Spain, offering its customers fast, accessible and efficient charging solutions.
