Kia previews details of the pro_cee'd and cee'd GT
They will use an enhanced version of the 1.6 GDI engine, with turbo, which will produce 204 CV. The suspension and chassis will also be modified.

The South Korean brand has released new official data on the sporty versions of its two compact models, the pro_cee’d and the cee’d. This trim will ultimately be called GT, making its intentions clear while avoiding other names that could lead to legal trouble. Until now, it was known that the model would be offered in three-door bodywork. But it seems Kia wants to expand the market by adding the five-door version to the GT range.
The announced figures correspond to its mechanical setup and the performance it will deliver in each case. The engine for both will be an improved version of the turbocharged 1.6 GDI. In this specification it will feature reinforced internal components. The power output will be 204 CV, 51% more than the same naturally aspirated block produces, and maximum torque will reach 265 Nm, 61% higher.
The chosen gearbox will be a six-speed manual. With it, the pro_cee’d and cee’d GT accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds according to Kia. The brand also states in the press release that the chassis and suspension have been modified so the models offer dynamics in keeping with their performance. But the first way to tell the GTs apart will, of course, be on the outside, where there will also be changes.
The front will feature new grille surrounds for the headlights, which will incorporate LED strips, and a deeper bumper with larger air intakes. The wheels will be specific 18-inch units, behind which red brake calipers will be visible. And the colour palette will be expanded with exclusive shades. The cabin will feature Recaro seats, alloy pedals and new materials. Production will begin in May 2013, and sales in summer depending on the country.
