Lamborghini Murcielago and the Nissan GT-R face off in a truly spectacular drift battle
Monster’s #BATTLEDRIFT returns with a new setting, London, and a new car: the Nissan GT-R taking on Daigo Sato’s Lamborghini Murcielago V12.

Since Ken Block began his career in the famous Gymkhanas, super productions of this calibre have increased considerably. The most aesthetic form of drifting has gained many followers in recent years, and for that reason there are more and more professional drivers practising it: Vaughn Gittin Jr., Tanner Foust, Ken Block, Daigo Saito, and others.
One of the drift videos that has had the greatest impact recently – it has amassed almost 15 million views on YouTube – has been the famous #BATTLEDRIFT produced by Monster and starring Vaughn Gittin Jr. – in his Ford 5-litre V8 Mustang (550 hp) – and Daigo Saito – behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Murcielago V12 (650 hp), a year and a half ago, which we recall in video.

On that occasion the American and the Japanese driver took their cars to Niigata (Japan). A few months later, the battle has moved to the city of London, where Daigo Saito will have to face a new rival who is at home, Baggsy. The British driver’s weapon is a Nissan GT-R fitted with a modified Chevrolet V8 engine producing a staggering 1,200 hp.

As with the first instalment, #BATTLEDRIFT 2 is characterised by its spectacular, millimetre-precise slides and very well executed choreography. However, the editing of this sequel is somewhat overloaded and, in our opinion, a little of the action and drama seen in the first instalment is missing; the transition from day to night in the original #BATTLEDRIFT is still very much present.
