Leaked! The new Toyota Supra could offer a BMW engine with 335 CV

An alleged official document has been leaked on a forum indicating the possible engine options that will be featured in the reinterpretation of the famous Japanese sports car.

The long-awaited return of the Toyota Supra is getting closer and closer. The reinterpretation of the sports car that delighted enthusiasts over recent decades is still in its development phase, but some of its bodywork components are already final and some of its technical specifications are starting to take shape.

As you already know, the new Toyota Supra will be built on the same platform as the successor to the BMW Z4, which is why they will surely share some elements such as their mechanical components. In fact, according to a document leaked by a user on the Supramkv.com forum, the new Toyota Supra will share the following engines with the Z4: two four-cylinder engines – 20i and 30i – with an alleged output of 248 CV in the case of the first, and a six-cylinder unit that could produce 335 CV.

The new Toyota Supra will only be offered with an automatic transmission

The same document also confirms what was already an open secret: the new Toyota Supra will be rear-wheel drive but it will only be offered with an automatic gearbox, something that should not please the target audience of this car too much.

On the other hand, according to Carscoops in an article based on the latest camouflaged version of the Japanese sports car, the new Toyota Supra already features the final version of its LED headlights. In the images published by the American outlet, one can see how the headlights incorporate a thin strip of LED daytime running lights along the lower part. For now, that is the only visual difference between the latest prototype and the earlier versions.
