Lexus launches the 2012 version of the RX 450h Hybrid and 450h F Sport crossover

Lexus has further strengthened its crossover, the RX 450h, with numerous improvements and a completely redesigned face for the 2012 model year of this hybrid crossover. It is also the spearhead for unveiling a new front-end design that will from now on accompany all the brand’s models.

The new double-arrow grille will be the face of Lexus from now on, giving it a distinctive and highly representative front end. But what really matters is the relationship between technology and consumption in this model, the result of the hybrid drivetrain that combines a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with two high-performance electric motors.

Accordingly, the performance figures are impressive: with an acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds, and a combined consumption of 6.3 l/100 km, the RX 450h Hybrid showcases the second-generation Lexus Hybrid Drive. The motors can propel the RX 450h up to 65 km/h.

For the interior, the model features a new steering wheel, a new central display, a new Multimedia System with new Remote Touch, DAB digital radio, Points of Interest (POI) search on the internet, improvements in voice recognition, song search on the iPod, email and SMS reading, and a DVD player.

The sportiest version of the hybrid crossover features a lower and deeper front end, with a honeycomb-pattern grille. Inside, the cabin has perforated leather sports seats with white thread stitching, aluminium pedals, metal trim panels and door finishers, while the steering wheel and gear lever also feature perforated leather trim.

Dynamically, the new RX 450h F SPORT is equipped with Performance Dampers, high-performance front and rear side dampers that increase stability, already introduced on the limited edition of the Lexus CT 200h Anniversary.
