Lexus LBX: the new compact SUV from the brand, which will be unveiled very soon

The upcoming model from the Japanese firm is a small SUV based on the Toyota Yaris Cross

Without having given any details beforehand, Lexus has just announced the arrival of a new model that will be called Lexus LBX. This vehicle, whose world debut is scheduled for June 5 in Milan, Italy, will be presented as the most compact and affordable entry-level model of the Japanese premium brand.

Although the details have been kept under wraps, Lexus has shared a couple of preliminary images that offer a small glimpse of what we can expect from the LBX. This model is estimated to be built on the GA-B platform of Toyota, which we already know from other models such as the popular Toyota Yaris Cross (road test). However, Lexus intends to endow its LBX with the characteristic touch of luxury and refinement that defines the brand.

Distinctive features

Starting with its design, the Lexus LBX represents a step forward in the brand’s aesthetic evolution. Its front headlights have a fairly rounded shape, while retaining the elegant daytime running lights that are distinctive to Lexus. In addition, a grille at the lower part integrated into the bodywork can be seen, which recalls what we have already seen on other brand models such as the Lexus LM or the recently presented Lexus RX.

Moving to the rear, we find very stylised rear lights that span the full width of the vehicle, accentuating the pronounced contours of the rear wheel arches. Although not all the details have been revealed yet, the LBX’s compact dimensions are also presumed to be quite similar to those of the Yaris Cross, suggesting its position as a model that combines elements of an SUV with those of a compact car.

What engines will be available

As for performance, the Lexus LBX is expected to incorporate a hybrid system similar to that of the Yaris Cross, offering the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. These features will allow an agile and efficient driving experience in a variety of scenarios.

Although some aspects are still to be revealed, Lexus has confirmed that it will provide all the additional details about the LBX on June 5 in Milan, where we will be able to learn every last detail of this new launch.
