Lexus NX 300h and Volkswagen Passat: Five Euro NCAP stars

Although every car presented goes through the demanding tests that make up the Euro NCAP rating, not all of them manage to achieve the maximum score, which certifies that they are the safest on the market. These kinds of tests are carried out continuously, and cars must pass these demanding tests to prove that they are as safe as they claim to be.

The Lexus NX 300h is one of the latest to go through them, and it has managed to overcome the challenge by earning 5 Euro NCAP stars, the highest score available in the safety tests. This model achieved good scores in each of the four parameters that make up the tests.

In adult occupant protection it reached 82%, while child occupant protection came in at the same percentage. For pedestrian safety it achieved 69%, and the safety assist systems reached 71%, so it passed all the tests with five stars.

The other vehicle that obtained the maximum score during these weeks has been the Volkswagen Passat. The German model also passed all four tests successfully. Its first good score came in adult occupant protection, where it reached 85%, while child occupant protection reached 87%, both figures slightly higher than those obtained by the Lexus.

The two remaining assessments, pedestrians and safety assist systems, also produced good results, which allowed the Volkswagen Passat to earn five Euro NCAP stars, placing it at the very top of safety according to the benchmarks used in these tests.
