With the arrival of 2011, Lexus has decided to introduce some modifications to its SUV, adding certain refinements to the engine and equipment. Although nothing has changed in its design, the Lexus RX 450h now offers a new adaptive air suspension and a wider range of body colours.

The air suspension system is offered as an optional extra within the Luxury trim, thus replacing the active stabiliser bar system. It offers four different modes: Hi, Lo, N and Loading, which adapt the car to different driving needs.

The first of these, Hi, means the RX 450h gains about 3 cm of ground clearance, which makes it ideal for off-road driving. Lo lowers the front axle by 2 cm and the rear axle by only 0.5 cm; this mode is more suitable for motorway driving.

The third mode, N, is neutral, automatically switching to Lo if we reach a speed of 110 km/h , improving stability and aerodynamics. Finally, Loading lowers the car by 3 cm, making it easier to load and unload the boot.

As for the bodywork, it is now available in up to 10 different colours, with the addition of Startlight Black and Arena Beige. Lastly, it is worth noting that the engine improvements reduce CO2 emissions from 148 to 145 g/km on the combined cycle.
