Lexus teases the future model it will present at the Shanghai Motor Show

The Shanghai Motor Show will kick off next April 16, and many car manufacturers are saving many of their surprises to unveil during the event. This is the case of Lexus. The brand has just launched a teaser of its new model.

Lexus has released only one image of its future model. The teaser of Lexus was published on the Facebook page of Lexus Taiwan.

In the new teaser of Lexus only the upper part of the front grille of the future model can be seen, and some sources claim that it bears a resemblance to the Lexus RX. Although the silhouette may evoke that model, if the focus is placed on the headlights, they can be seen to be somewhat different. For its part, the grille is somewhat more complex than that of the Lexus RX.

The Lexus RX became the first hybrid SUV to enter the Premium segment with five or seven seats. It measures about 5 meters in length. It featured the Lexus Hybrid Drive system and offered 313 CV of combined power. This figure was achieved thanks to the 3.5-liter V6 engine and the electric motor capable of propelling the vehicle on its own.

What is Lexus working on?

As can be seen in the Lexus Taiwan publication, there is a description reading “The luxury of space”. The text of the Facebook post asks “How does Lexus escape the limits of transport?” “When the vehicle is upgraded to a private space…”

Sources such as Lexus Enthusiast have reported that the new Lexus teaser that will be presented at the Shanghai Motor Show will be a large MPV. This future Lexus MPV will only be sold in China and Southeast Asia. Speculation surrounds the name, as everything points to it being called LM350 or LM300h, since the manufacturer registered these names during 2018.

Lexus, a bet on MPVs

This is not the first time Lexus has hinted that it could be working on a large MPV. Indeed, Raymond Rodríguez, president of Lexus Manila, already stated last year that “it is only a matter of time”. This statement came before the manufacturer launched a luxurious variant of the Toyota Alphard MPV.

It is important to highlight that the launch of a Lexus MPV could help the manufacturer overtake Mercedes-Benz in sales. Will it achieve its goal?
