MG continues to add units to the range of its successful MG4, the electric car that has shaken up the market with a price that makes it a genuine alternative to combustion-engine cars, and that has been a surprise, landing at the top of every sales ranking.

Now, the new MG4 XPower, a true “battery-powered” GTI, is joined by the MG4 Extended Range, the version with the largest-capacity battery. Compared with the 51 kWh and 350 km of range of the Standard version with 170 CV, and the 64 kWh capacity and 435 km of range of the second step in the range, available with Comfort and Luxury trims and 204 CV, the new Extended Range version increases battery capacity to 77 kWh and power up to 245 CV.

More range, more charging power and better performance

The increase in power, and also in maximum torque, which rises to 350 Nm, means not only that performance is not lost compared with the 204 CV version despite the extra weight of the battery, but that it is in fact noticeably better. Top speed is 180 km/h, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, improving by more than a second on the mid-range battery variant.

But the key figure is the WLTP range, which reaches 520 km. In addition, DC charging power has been increased up to 144 kW, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in under 40 minutes.

This new version of the MG4 is paired with the Trophy trim, which differs from the other versions through its 18-inch alloy wheels and black roof, while keeping generous standard equipment. The price of the MG4 Extended Range is 40,690 euros, from which the launch promotion offered by MG of 3,210 euros should be deducted.

If we also apply the 7,000 euros of aid from the MOVES Plan, the final price drops to 30,480 euros. Without a doubt, one of the best alternatives on the market for anyone looking for an electric car with the best balance of range, equipment and price.
