Lotus announces the Evora S and the IPS transmission for Paris

The Parisian show will be an important event for the sports car maker from Hethel, and a good number of novelties are expected, many of them practically ready for the street. As we mentioned earlier following these spy photos, two of them will be related to the Evora, and Lotus has already announced its details and posted its images.
The Evora S is a more powerful version that goes from 280 CV to 350 thanks to improvements to its 3.5 V6 engine of Toyota. It will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, with which it will reach 100 km/h from 0 in 4.8 seconds and can run up to 277 km/h. Average fuel consumption will be rated at 10 litres per 100 km (10.2 with optional 19- or 20-inch wheels), and its CO2 emissions will be 235 grams per kilometre (239 with the other wheels).

Outside, the Evora S is distinguished by its single central exhaust outlet, the rear diffuser, the drilled brake discs and the badge. Inside, a “Sport” button has been added to the lower part of the centre console, which raises the revs, activates the exhaust valve, manages throttle response and modifies the stability control parameters.
The other news is the new IPS (Intelligent Precision Shift) gearbox, which can be ordered as an option on the standard 280 CV Evora. This transmission can act as an automatic and also as a manual, since gears can be changed with the paddles behind the steering wheel. It likewise incorporates the “Sport” button to make better use of it. The IPS is of great importance for Lotus because it should appeal more to Asian and North American buyers, who prefer this type of gearbox.
