Madrid Motor Show: Land Rover

Land Rover Salon Madrid

Not too big, low-key, packed with units, tucked into a corner of Hall 5. Land Rover didn’t arrive in Madrid creating a stir, but it did make an impression within its own little stronghold.

Having Paloma Lago as the stand’s godmother is a fact that, though far removed from what concerns us, draws curious onlookers and gives the photos a different angle. But Land Rover’s representative also made clear the other current attributes of the brand. 60 years of existence bear witness to a job well done over this time, of experience gained on the assembly line, designing and bringing to life vehicles that have travelled the globe to its most remote corners.

To be more specific, yes, they brought the LRX Concept. As a concept it has been one of the most acclaimed of the year, and as a design it is no less so: compact, luxurious, aggressive and generous to the environment for being the first to speak of a turbodiesel hybrid powertrain within the confines of the British marque. But it is a concept, so admire it while it doesn’t reach the production plant, because many things will change.

Besides, there was another set of novelties over there, of a commercial rather than inspirational nature. For example, the Defender SVX Special Edition, limited to 1,300 units to commemorate the aforementioned anniversary. Slight revisions to the Freelander 2 and the Discovery 3 in design and equipment, and for the upper rung -Range Rover- a new TDV8 engine that replaces another 6-cylinder diesel to give the model greater refinement and performance. Likewise, the Sport range of this latter sub-brand now offers new trim levels.

The excitement generated by Paloma Lago in video and the stand photos below:
