Little by little we are counting down the days to the opening of the doors at the Tokyo Motor Show, and as a result we are learning about new releases, among which the ones from local brands are awaited with the most anticipation. On this occasion it is Mazda that previews the main novelties we will see at its stand, among which are two concepts that will reveal very important details regarding the future of the Japanese brand.

As I said, there will be two concepts that Mazda will bring to the Tokyo Motor Show. Both will provide more important details, although one of them will have a short-term effect. This first concept in particular will preview the next generation of one of its models: the Mazda 3, a model that we already know is still under development, so this concept will serve to give us an idea of what its next generation will bring.

This concept will fuse the next generation of technology and design that Mazda will adopt in the near future, also incorporating the SKYACTIV-Vehicle architecture, which is based on the design philosophy of Mazda centred on people to provide greater functionality. Furthermore, both this concept and the future Mazda 3 will have under their bonnet the new SKYACTIV-X petrol engine , making it the first Mazda model to be fitted with it.

The second concept from Mazda is a test bed for its design vision, a design that will foreshadow the path the brand will soon take in this area. This new direction in the design of its vehicles continues to take as its basis its KODO design language, which debuted in 2012 on the Mazda CX-5, but is now a deeper design language.

But alongside these two concepts there will also be other novelties. One of them will be the new Mazda CX-8, a seven-seat family SUV that incorporates the 2,200 cc SKYACTIV-D diesel engine with 190 CV of power. Unfortunately this model will not be seen in Europe, as it is aimed at the Japanese market, where it will go on sale in December. Also on display will be a special edition of the Mazda MX-5 called the Red Top, with a Cherry Red canvas soft top and Nappa leather upholstery in that same shade.
