McLaren Sports Series enters production

McLaren 570S Coupe Launch 2015 Portimao
The McLaren family is celebrating these days. Production has begun on the new McLaren Sports Series range, a family of high-performance luxury cars. The first model in this range to leave McLaren’s plant in Woking, England, will be the 570S Coupé. It will open production of the range, although it will soon be joined by two more models, arriving from 2016 onwards.

The first McLaren Sports Series 570S has been handed over to a brand dealer, which will soon deliver it to the customer who bought it. Once that delivery is made, the nearly 1,000 vehicles reserved across the brand’s sales network will gradually be distributed.

The second McLaren Sports Series model to go into production will be the 540C Coupé, along with another model whose name and specifications are still unknown. The 570S has a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 570 CV. As the entry point to the McLaren range, which has two further steps, Ultimate Series and Super Series.

Despite its impressive performance, this model is considered one of the most restrained in the brand’s line-up

In fact, the engine fitted to the 570S is the same one used in the other models, although it has been modified. 30% of its parts have been adapted to reduce power output and consumption, and to make it operate in a more restrained manner. The carbon-fibre chassis helps the model control its weight, which benefits its performance. It also features aluminium elements in its body, and the ceramic brakes and alloy wheels also contribute to this.

The McLaren Sport Series 570S Coupé can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in ten seconds, with a top speed of over 300 km/h.

The McLaren 540C is a slightly less powerful model, with a twin-turbo V8 engine capable of delivering 540 CV and 540 Nm of peak torque. This car weighs only 1,311 kilos, which is around 150 kg less than other similar models. It will arrive in a few months and, together with the other model yet to be revealed, will complete the McLaren line-up for the time being.
