Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster: with S for "Super"
Mercedes-AMG adds a new variant to the AMG GT Roadster range, with the twin-turbo V8 engine and an output of 522 CV.
With this one, there are three versions offered by Mercedes-AMG for its open-top sports car, the AMG GT Roadster. The 476 CV GT Roadster and the 557 CV AMG GT C Roadster are now joined by the AMG GT S Roadster, which sits right between the two.
The 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine here delivers 522 CV at 6,250 rpm, and a peak torque of 670 Nm between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. In terms of performance, this version is closer to the more powerful AMG GT C Roadster, with 3.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 308 km/h (3.7 s and 316 km/h for the more powerful model).

Compared with the AMG GT Roadster that serves as the entry point to the range, the AMG GT S Roadster keeps the AMG RIDE CONTROL adaptive sports suspension, an electronically controlled rear differential lock instead of a mechanical one, and the Performance sports exhaust, elements that come as standard on the AMG GT C Roadster.

As in all versions of this supercar, AMG DYNAMIC SELECT lets you choose between five driving modes: comfort, sport, sport plus, race, and a customisable programme called individual. Drive is to the rear wheels, through a seven-speed AMG Speedshift DCT 7G gearbox.

For braking, Mercedes-AMG doesn’t do things by halves: the composite-material disc brake system comes as standard, with 390 mm discs and 6-piston calipers at the front, and 360 mm discs on the rear axle. And for the most demanding drivers, the AMG high-performance brakes with competition-level performance are still available from the options list. These are carbon-ceramic, with 402 mm discs at the front and 360 mm at the rear, cutting weight by 40 per cent compared with the standard brakes.

The Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster goes on sale this very spring, with a price closer to the 192,600 euros of the AMG GT C Roadster than to the 160,800 euros of the “basic” version.
