Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan Concept, compact and dynamic

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class family has become one of the most important assets for the star manufacturer.

Aware of this, the brand wants to make the most of it, and presents us, in concept form, the A-Class Sedan, an attractive and very sporty model.

The Shanghai Motor Show has been the stage chosen by the star brand to present the latest addition to the A family, an extensive range of products that so far covers compact models -the A-Class itself-, MPVs -B-Class-, four-door coupés -CLA-Class- and even SUV models, with the GLA.

The A-Class of Mercedes is, today, the best-selling model of the brand in many markets, including Spain. Knowing of this success, the brand has officially presented a new proposal to further complete the offer of this family, always built on the same modular front-wheel-drive platform and four-cylinder engines.

The brand previewed it a few months ago, as we told you here, but it is only now that it has taken the leap and presented, still as a concept model, the A-Class Sedan, a model that will rival alternatives such as the future BMW 1 Series Sedan, which will soon leave its until now sole market, China, in an international expansion move.

The A-Class Sedan irremediably reminds us, from the very first glance, of the CLA, although the brand’s managers have wanted to clarify that the approaches of the two models are different. While the A-Sedan is exactly that, a “saloon” bodywork derived from the compact, the CLA is considered a four-door coupé.

Either way, the design of the A-Class Sedan is very attractive, thanks to a sharper front end than ever -which possibly anticipates the lines of the future new generation of the A-Class-, sculpted lines and a very muscular rear, with very well integrated light clusters.

Mechanically no details are known, but it is reasonable to think that it will share at least most of its mechanicals with its family siblings. This model will reach the market in its production version at the end of 2018, when the A-Class will be completely renewed.
