Mercedes-Benz achieves another production record with 1.34 million units

The crisis is hitting the European industrial sector hard, there is no doubt about that. In this context, Mercedes-Benz has weathered the storm throughout the year, exceeding its production expectations. If last year marked a production record at all its factories, this year brings us another record, manufacturing a total of more than 1.34 million vehicles.

So far this year Mercedes-Benz has sold 1,194,904 vehicles worldwide, a significant number for a product range that is aimed at a very specific, high-end market. Which have been the best-sellers? I think it’s obvious: the A-Class and B-Class have accounted for the largest number of sales, followed by the M-Class SUV.

While other brands are closing plants across Europe, Mercedes-Benz has opened a new plant in Hungary, the Kecskemét factory, where the B-Class is built and where the future CLA coupé will roll off the line, which you can see in its first official images with camouflage.

Mercedes also announces strong investments in its German plants at Sindelfingen, Untertürkheim and Rastatt, as well as boosting production in China together with its partner BAIC. In the USA, it has partnered with Nissan to produce engines for the C-Class.
