Mercedes-Benz announces the "Edition 79" limited edition for the G55 AMG

Dubai is an important market for the German manufacturer from Stuttgart, and so at its International Motor Show it has brought not only a novelty, the golden SLS AMG, but has also accompanied it with a special edition of its veteran off-roader, the G-Class, exclusive to its top trim level, prepared by AMG, of which only 79 units will be sold in the Middle East alone.
The G55 AMG Kompressor “Edition 79” commemorates the two decades that the model has been on sale, which has enjoyed global presence and has become another icon of pure, hardcore off-roaders. However, if you are looking for a place where it is especially popular, the Persian Gulf region is home to a large number of examples, many of which are the AMG variant.

Outside, the special edition stands out for its specific “Designo Magno” Alanite Grey paint with a matt finish, which until now was exclusive to the sports car SLS AMG. Other features include the front bumper with chrome grilles, the side stripes that simulate the look of carbon fibre, the alloy wheels of 19 inches with an exclusive design and a titanium finish, and the chrome trim for the rear lights and underbody.
As for the interior, the “Edition 79” features “Designo” leather upholstery with a two-tone colour scheme of black for the edges and “Sand” beige for the rest, high-quality carbon fibre trim and, finally, a metal plaque bearing the unit’s number of the special edition next to the gearshift knob. The engine is the same 514-horsepower V8 with no specific modifications.
