Mercedes-Benz reveals its intentions for the electric S-Class

Daimler AG is preparing for the future consumption and emissions laws that will come into force in the US and Europe in the near future. And it is better to be anticipating what is coming than to make last-minute changes that do not always turn out well.
Building on the F125 they showed in Frankfurt, Daimler has in mind the electric S-Class, one of the first models Daimler would offer with electric mobility, although this will not be soon.
The goal to reach is the year 2025, when hydrogen cars will be fully viable, according to the brand’s executives. With range requirements that will have to be in line with the low consumption demanded by international bodies, a battery electric car does not seem to be the solution.
Instead, Mercedes is trying to refine the fuel cell system of the F125 and the technology used in its batteries. Let us recall that the F125 features lithium-sulphur batteries, with a capacity of 10 kWh, which will also allow more than 50 km of purely electric propulsion. Combined with hydrogen, it would provide 1,000 km of range. Enough to silence the complaints that, today, are raised against electric vehicles.
