Mercedes Benz wants to move ahead in the electric car segment and is in a hurry
The German brand wants to move quickly in the development of cars with electric motors, and for the third consecutive year it will increase the budget allocated to preparing future models that use this alternative system to fossil fuels

That the market for electric vehicles is growing is a reality we cannot ignore. All the major brands are working to offer in their lineups one or several models powered by electricity, which could make us finally forget about fossil fuels. Mercedes-Benz is one of the companies that has got its batteries charged to offer a fully electric model that keeps all the specifications sought by users of the German brand.
Daimler’s CEO, Dieter Zetsche, announced in an interview that the company is adjusting its development schedule for this type of vehicle in order to offer, in the shortest time possible, a fully electric and perfectly functional car, ready to take on the challenges posed by the cars we already know from other brands.

We will begin to learn about the upcoming plans of Mercedes regarding electric models at the next Paris Motor Show 2016, which will be held during October. At this important event in the automotive world, they plan to present the first prototype of this kind from the brand with the star.
The development of electric vehicles and more efficient engines is a priority for Mercedes-Benz. It will be an electric car with a range of more than 500 kilometres, a considerable distance that will make this car one of the most desired. That said, although development appears to be quite advanced, it seems this model would not go on sale until 2020, so there would be many changes both in terms of styling and equipment and, above all, in the electric motor.
The electric propulsion system will not be the only one present in Mercedes’s plans, since alongside it they will focus on developing low-emission engines, autonomous driving systems and new batteries that allow progress in these aspects of the car. To do so, they will allocate more than 6.6 billion euros, which were aimed at this during this year. In 2015 they allocated 5.5 million, which has already meant an increase of more than a billion. Certainly, the commitment seems strong and we hope it leads to good results from next year onward.
