Mercedes drops the A-Class saloon, though the rest of the range stays
Although Mercedes will continue to sell the A-Class, it will do away with the saloon version of the model, which will stop being built during the second half of 2025.

The body style of the moment for years now has been the SUV. Saloons, which were the most sought-after models in their day, are still around but have moved into the background. Perhaps for that reason, several brands are turning their backs on this type of vehicle. Mercedes-Benz has several saloons in its catalogue, but they are increasingly being limited to the higher segments of the range.
The A-Class also has a saloon version, with four doors and a rather appealing look. But the brand has already warned that this variant will disappear from the second half of 2025. The A-Class saloon will stop being built and from that point on, only the units remaining in stock will be available, and no changes will be possible beyond those on offer.

The remaining versions will stay available
The other versions of the A-Class will remain available on the market and will continue to be built for anyone wanting to get into a Mercedes through this entry-level segment. The compact version and the CLA and GLA versions will stay on sale and can be bought at the brand’s dealerships.
Mercedes’ strategy is to focus on the upper end of the market, so it will keep developing higher-category models and plans to turn its back on entry-level ones. To that end, it has developed the MMA platform. This has been designed for the Entry Luxury segment and will feature the MB.OS infotainment system. With the MMA platform, it will be possible to use electric and plug-in hybrid engines, although it will also retain pure internal combustion engines.
It is not a decision that Mercedes alone has taken. Other brands are turning their backs on city-oriented models and focusing on larger, higher-category ones, especially when it comes to electric cars. A decision that contrasts with that of other manufacturers who continue to offer this type of vehicle and are even stepping up their sales.
