Mercedes announces that it has built its 8 millionth unit at its plant in Bremen. This factory began operating in 1978 and has not stopped since.

Some brands have a great history behind them, and the legacy left by their predecessors continues to accompany them to this day. This is the case of Mercedes-Benz, as the German firm has just celebrated the production of eight million units worldwide since 1978, the year in which the first unit intended for a customer left the factory in Bremen.

Without a doubt, eight million units is a great number of vehicles produced over these 39 years, and the star brand has no intention of stopping now. The plant where such a large number of vehicles has been produced is, specifically, in Bremen. This factory has more than 12,000 employees at its disposal, who work hard to achieve a perfect result.

The city of Bremen is located in northwestern Germany and has 550,000 inhabitants. Mercedes chose this city in 1978 to set up one of its most important factories and, without a doubt, it did not make a bad decision. Since then, millions of units have left the German plant and some of the brand’s most successful vehicles are produced there.

This has been key to the success of its production, since more than half of the Mercedes manufactured in Bremen account for a large part of the brand’s total sales volume. The C-Class is produced there in all its versions and variants, and only the coupé and cabriolet of the E-Class are manufactured there. This means that the C and E (only the two-door versions of the latter) together with the GLC are built in Bremen. The SUV market has been very well received by society today, and this has led to a greater number of orders for the German brand.

On the other hand, the SLC and SL are also produced in Bremen alongside their sedan sibling. This means greater revenue for the factory, since these last two vehicles are sports cars with a price range that exceeds some of the Mercedes products manufactured at other sites. The honour of occupying the eight millionth position went to an SUV, specifically the standard GLC.

This represents a great benefit for Mercedes and for the rest of the factories it has spread across the country. The Bremen factory will surely not sit idle and will continue with its good pace of production and hard work for more than 30 years.
