Ford commits to Valencia to build the next generation of the Kuga
Ford continues to back its Almussafes plant in Valencia to keep building the Kuga and to improve its facilities and productivity

Ford’s plant in Almussafes, Valencia, is set to receive an injection of €750 million to continue building the Ford Kuga, a model that currently accounts for 50% of the output of the Valencian factory. This investment will go towards producing the new generation of this SUV, which is built at the plant and will soon be updated to offer improvements over the current model.
Since 2011, Ford has carried out successive investments at the plant, which to date total €3,000 million, to update and modernise its facilities. With this new investment, Ford endorses the excellent work of the Valencian factory, which has become one of the most important production centres for Ford in Europe. The funds from this latest investment will be allocated to productivity and cost-efficiency improvement measures proposed by management, the unions and the workers.

This is important news for the Almussafes plant, which is able to sustain Kuga production for several more years, guaranteeing the plant’s full operation. In addition, the continuous upgrades to the manufacturing processes for cars and engines have made it one of the most important for the brand in the European market.
Besides the Ford Kuga, which will also be updated shortly, this plant builds the entire ranges of the Ford Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy, as well as the Ford Tourneo Connect, dedicated to passenger transport, and the Ford Transit Connect, a light commercial vehicle. These models sell quite well in our market, although 90% of production is shipped to 75 countries.
The Almussafes plant began operating in 1976 and has produced around 12 million cars and 6 million engines, making it the European plant that builds the most models.
