MG Cyberster, the roadster due in 2024 to celebrate the brand's 100th anniversary
The MG brand celebrates its centenary in 2024 and, to mark it, is preparing the launch of several electric models, such as this version of the MG Cyberster.

The brand Morris Garage, known as MG, turns 100 in 2024, so it wants to prepare several surprises for its customers. The celebration will be headed, as far as we know, by the launch of the MG Cyberster, a production version of the prototype that was presented at the Shanghai Motor Show 2021. A show car that drew the attention of attendees and attracted the interest of 5,000 people.
These were considered sufficient to give the green light to the project and put it into production so that it reaches the market. Thus, taking advantage of the fact that 2024 marks the brand’s first 100 years, the MG Cyberster will become the main draw for the celebration.

A maker of affordable sports cars
Since its founding, MG has been regarded as a brand that offered sports cars at an affordable price. This has continued throughout its history, even when it had to be bought by the Chinese multinational SAIC to save it from bankruptcy. With the entry of Chinese capital, the brand continued its journey in the United Kingdom, where it has always been present, and in China. It has now returned to the European market with interesting electrified car proposals.
The road version of the MG Cyberster is based on the prototype, although work will be done to bring the look of the concept model down to a more manageable appearance and one more friendly to everyday use. That said, the electric powertrain will remain and will make this model an attractive and desirable car at a good price.
Based on the information provided by MG at the model’s presentation, it uses an electric system made up of a battery that provides a range of 800 kilometres. This battery pack will possibly not reach production, but it is a sign of what the company intends with this model: to be a reliable, simple and economical sports car with outstanding performance.
The arrival of this affordably priced electric convertible sports car will, according to the brand, be the first of several similar proposals that will complement the brand’s range for future launches. All of them are to be made after that centenary to be celebrated in two years’ time.
