Mil-Spec Automotive has managed to make the Hummer H1 even more beastly and radical

Mil-Spec has managed to create the Hummer H1 that AM General could not, now much more powerful and radical, as well as with better finishes and interior quality

When we talk about the most radical off-roaders, it is inevitable to think of the Hummer and specifically its H1 version, the civilian model that was based on the famous military vehicle used by numerous countries. Its commercialisation began in the early 90s and ended in 2006, always under the care of AM General, although today, thanks to the manufacturer VLF Automotive, it remains on sale and enjoys a certain popularity, though not at the levels of yesteryear.

But despite the great popularity it enjoyed, the Hummer H1 was met with numerous voices clamouring about the many flaws they pointed out, especially its enormous size and relatively modest power for a vehicle of its characteristics and dimensions. The tuning company Mil-Spec Automotive has decided to get down to business and solve all these problems, creating the so-called The Launch Edition of the Hummer H1, thus offering us its most savage and radical side of an already impressive off-roader.

Exteriorly, the matt and glossy black colours printed on its aerospace-grade hardened aluminium bodywork are eye-catching, on which a textured, non-smooth finish is achieved that, as you can see, provides extra protection. From here on, we find numerous elements that would delight any 4×4 enthusiast: ceramic underbody coating, LED bars and lights for greater illumination, snorkel for air intake, front and rear bodywork protection bars, winch, exhaust system with water drain and huge military-style wheels, among other things.

Inside, there are also improvements that raise the level of finish and quality the Hummer H1 had, so we find upholstery made of military-grade leather that guarantees extended durability, aerospace-grade aluminium details, LED lighting, GPS gauges, controls with a new design and finish and, even, a new audio system signed by JL Audio.

Mechanically, Mil-Spec has also taken care to address another of the Hummer H1’s shortcomings: its power. To do so, they have used a new engine from General Motors, namely a 6,600 cc Duramax V8 turbodiesel that delivers 500 CV and an impressive torque of 1,355 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox, which will allow for greater driving fun thanks to the transfer case and the different levels for differential locking.
