MINI 60 Years Edition to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the English brand
This 2019 MINI will celebrate sixty years of this already iconic vehicle with a special edition called 60 Years Edition, which will arrive in March

It was in 1959 when sales of the original Mini began at the British Motor Company, born from the sketches created by Alec Issigonis, one of the most iconic vehicles of the last century and which still stirs passions today in its original form. Unfortunately, the classic Mini stopped being manufactured in 2000 when BMW, which had bought Rover, the company that held the manufacturing rights, decided to put an end to it and begin a new era.
This is how the MINI later came about, and you already know how the story has continued: what began as a modern reinterpretation of the myth has ended up creating a large family made up of numerous variants to suit all kinds of audiences, including sporty, spirited versions like those that Alec Issigonis and John Cooper once created, a series of vehicles that achieved great success both on tarmac and in rally competition.

Although the spirit of the classic Mini has been lost since the creation of the MINI by BMW, BMC’s original goal was to build an English city car that could compete with sales of German cars at a time of fuel shortages in the late 1950s. Its essence endures in that legendary design, which can still be sensed in the modern, well-equipped new generation of MINI vehicles. So, ownership changes and design aside, the new MINI can claim to be celebrating a birthday, and in this 2019 it will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a special edition.
The MINI 60 Years Edition will feature aesthetic changes that will be especially noticeable on the exterior, since the British Racing Green IV colour chosen for its bodywork is meant to evoke British racing cars, paying tribute to its competition history as well. If this colour does not appeal to you, you can choose from the other four available options: Midnight Black metallic, Moonwalk Grey metallic, Melting Silver metallic and MINI Yours Lapisluxury Blue. In addition, there is the Pepper White or Black colour for the roof and mirror caps, stripes for the bonnet with a specific design, and 17-inch alloy wheels, also exclusive, in the 60 Years Spoke 2-tone design.

The finishing touch is the logo present on any edition worth its salt, which in this case appears on the left side of the bonnet, the side scuttles of the side indicators, the lower trim of the driver’s and passenger’s doors, the front sport seat headrests upholstered in leather, the sporty leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the LED projection we will see when opening the driver’s door. Furthermore, the standard equipment includes LED lighting throughout, including the rear lights, plus the Union Jack design, dual-zone climate control, cruise control and rain and light sensors.
The MINI 60 Years Edition will be offered in both three-door and five-door bodywork, with buyers able to choose between two petrol engines or two diesel engines, which offer a power range from 136 CV up to 192 CV, covering the needs of practically any future owner. That said, we will have to wait a little to see it on our roads, as it will not be available until next March.
