Monterey, cradle for the auction of two unique Ford concepts

As you well know, it is very rare for an auction to feature not a single unique car, but a concept from any kind of brand. These vehicles, if they never reach production, are usually displayed in some kind of private museum belonging to the brand in question, or are kept directly by the designer who created them. It is best not to mention those that are destroyed for not representing any kind of revolution or arousing any interest.

Because of this, we must admit we have good reason to celebrate, since during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance the well-known auction house RM Auctions will sell two unique concepts created by Ford, whose proceeds, which we hope will be millions, will go to charity.

Specifically, we are talking about an impressive Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept (header image), a vehicle that was presented at this same event back in 2004 and left everyone there speechless. Specifically, perhaps you don’t remember, it was the vehicle designed by Ford with the help of Shelby to celebrate 40 years of the Shelby Daytona. If you are interested in bidding on it, I should say first of all that this is a static concept, so it has neither an engine nor, of course, can it move. It is estimated that it will reach the market at a price of between 150,000 and 200,000 dollars.

On the other hand, we have a magnificent Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster Concept (red roadster above these lines), a vehicle that was first presented at the 2002 Detroit Motor Show. In this case, we are looking at a roadster equipped with a huge 3.9-litre V8. As a drawback of the model, I should mention that this vehicle cannot be homologated for use on public roads precisely because of the engine it carries. Its price is estimated to range between 125,000 and 175,000 dollars.
