More details on the Honda CR-V 2019: the family SUV
Honda reveals more details about the Honda CR-V 2019, an SUV that focuses on comfort and versatility for family use. It arrives in the autumn with a petrol engine, and the hybrid version in 2019.

Honda presented the European version of the new Honda CR-V at the recent Geneva Motor Show. We were able to see it inside and out, and learn some details. Among the most relevant, the new platform, the first time with a seven-seat version, or the abandonment of diesel engines. You can read here everything we knew so far about the Honda CR-V 2019.
Now, Honda reveals some more details about its new SUV, which will go on sale from the autumn. To begin with, the dimensions. There is 40 mm more wheelbase, reaching 2,660 mm. A key increase to be able to boast of an interior with much more space without increasing the exterior length, which stays at 4.6 metres. The width also increases by 35 mm, reaching 1,855 mm. The translation into interior space, according to Honda, is a gain of 16 mm in the free width in the front seats, and 50 mm more legroom for passengers in the rear seats.

Other details that make clear Honda’s commitment to offering an SUV with a clear family focus, where comfort and ease of use take priority, are the door opening angle increased by 6 degrees to make it easier to access the cabin. Or the wraparound lower moulding on the doors to reduce the risk of getting dirty when getting out of the vehicle. In addition, the second-row seats can slide longitudinally 150 mm, to increase boot capacity. A class-leading load volume is claimed, with the boot floor adjustable on two levels, a flat surface when the seats are folded down and a maximum loading length of 1,830 mm for the five-seat Honda CR-V, and 1,830 mm in the seven-seater, thus improving by 250 mm over the previous CR-V.

Among the new solutions aimed at improving life on board, large compartments are added to the doors by having repositioned the speakers to the upper area of the doors. From the Elegance versions onwards, rear passengers will also have USB ports to charge their mobile devices, and with the top Executive trim, the electrically operated tailgate with hands-free opening sensor will be added.

When sales of the Honda CR-V begin in Europe after the summer, the petrol versions will arrive first, with the 1.5 Turbo engine in manual or automatic versions. For the hybrid CR-V you will have to wait until early 2019. The hybrid will not be offered in a seven-seat version, as it has an electric motor coupled to the combustion engine on the front axle, and a second motor on the rear axle that leaves no room for a third row of seats.
