New 1.6 DIG-T engine for the Nissan Qashqai

Nissan has announced the addition of a new engine to the Qashqai range, which a few weeks ago we tested here at Highmotor.
On this occasion, the star is a 1.6 petrol engine, which arrives to complete the petrol offering of the Japanese SUV, until now limited to the 1.2 DIG-T.
Already at the launch of the new generation of the Qashqai, Nissan admitted that the 1.6 DIG-T was part of the incorporation plans, but they limited themselves to speculating about a power output of approximately 150 CV. It seems that the Japanese manufacturer has decided to add an extra touch of punch to the powertrain, which in the Qashqai’s body will deliver 163 CV.

With a maximum torque of 240 NM at just 2,000 rpm, with this engine the Qashqai will offer great smoothness and driving pleasure, without neglecting more than decent performance. Paired solely with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual gearbox, the Qashqai 1.6 DIG-T will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 200 km/h.
The average consumption of this engine is 5.8 litres per 100 kilometres, which equates to CO2 emissions of 134 g per kilometre. Together with the introduction of this new engine in the range, the small 1.2 will also be combinable with a revision of the X-TRONIC automatic gearbox, which improves consumption and driving feel.
The novelties for the Qashqai range will arrive from February of next year, just one year after the launch of this second generation which, as with the first, has become a tremendous sales success from the very beginning.
