New AMG aesthetic accessories for the Mercedes CLA

Mercedes introduced us, several months ago, to a slight update of its four-door coupé, the Mercedes CLA. The changes were little more than a light redesign of some parts of the vehicle, although it is hard to tell a pre-facelift model apart from a later one.
Now, Mercedes-AMG is launching a more complete new range of aesthetic accessories that will be available on the 250 version and the rest of the CLA range with the optional AMG styling kit.
These new accessories are not exactly an aesthetic revolution, but they do add more distinction and sportiness to the coupé from the German brand in the variants with the AMG kit. For this vehicle, the company offers a more aggressive new front splitter, oversized side skirts and a more pronounced false diffuser at the rear, which houses the chrome twin exhaust outlets.

These three accessories, which always come finished in gloss black, have been made using the deep-drawing technique, which allows very irregular shapes to be obtained in thin plastic elements through a kind of sheet-metal mould. They have also been designed for a simple, quick installation process, reducing the cost for the customer.
In addition, Mercedes AMG has also designed new wheel hub caps. It may sound unexciting, and it is true that it is not an element we tend to dwell on much, but as you can see in the image, they are anything but conventional.
On the upper part you can read Affalterbach, which is the name of the town where the company’s headquarters are located. In German it means “apple tree in the brook”. The design on the left side comes precisely from that “apple tree in the brook”, where half of a tree is shown on the bank of a river. The right side is more purist, with a valve and its pushrod spring next to a cam. All of this is surrounded by bay leaves and, at the bottom, the AMG inscription naturally appears. In our opinion it is quite a nice logo, but it might deserve a stronger presence on the vehicle, for example somewhere in the interior as well.
