New BMW M2 designed by M Performance, ready to hit the track
The BMW M2 receives a new prototype designed by M Performance that sheds 60 kg compared to the original model.
The BMW M2 has become one of the stars of the Munich-based brand at major events. This weekend the Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off in the UK, and BMW will present a prototype of the M2 named BMW M Performance Parts Concept. This version of the German sports car has been specially designed to set strong lap times on the track. It will be unveiled at the British event with optimised aerodynamics and a weight reduction of 60 kg.

M Performance sport suspension
BMW has not revealed many details about the mechanics or chassis of this concept, but we know it features the M Performance sport suspension, which lowers the car’s ride height by 20 mm. This suspension includes independently adjustable dampers, 12 compression stages and 16 rebound settings.

Design and aerodynamics: plenty of carbon fibre!

As its name suggests, the concept has been fitted with an interesting range of M Performance components, including several carbon fibre elements: a new front grille, side fins, roof, rear diffuser and tailgate.

The BMW M Performance Parts Concept rides on 19-inch M Performance wheels finished in Gold Frozen. That same colour can also be found on some details of the grille, the sides and the rear diffuser.

Inside the car, M Performance sport seats have been fitted, finished in carbon fibre and Alcantara, and featuring striking gold stitching. There is also an M Performance steering wheel trimmed in leather and Alcantara, a matching handbrake and a carbon fibre gear lever. To reduce weight even further, BMW has installed lightweight M Performance rear seats upholstered in Alcantara, which weigh 13 kg less than the standard seats.

The best news about this concept M2 is that all the parts it introduces will be added to the M Performance catalogue. Get your shopping trolley ready…
