New Hyundai i30 Turbo, the most performance-oriented in the range
New Hyundai i30 Turbo
Hyundai has reworked the i30 range, updating it so that it can continue competing with its most direct rivals. The changes are most noticeable at the front, where it sports a new, large-scale hexagonal grille and new light clusters (bi-xenon with automatic levelling) reminiscent of those on the i40. The rear has received more subtle revisions, with a new bumper and slight changes to the lamps, which now include LED technology.
Among the existing i30 options, you can opt for the new Hyundai i30 Turbo, which sits at the top of the range. It is available with 3-door and 5-door bodies. The exterior stands out for its front-end details, with the hexagonal grille as the star feature, along with a new front bumper that houses LED daytime running lights. At the rear, it also has a newly designed bumper that integrates the fog lights together with a twin chrome exhaust outlet at the bottom.
The exterior styling changes that set it apart from the rest of the range also include 18-inch alloy wheels and a sport suspension, tested alongside the other technical solutions on the Nürburgring circuit (Germany), the long variant of 20.8 kilometres, at the brand’s Test Centre located there.
Interior of the New Hyundai i30 Turbo
Inside, the sporty details stand out in the gear lever (red-toned upper section), in the seats (red stitching and mixed fabrics), in the multifunction steering wheel and in the instrument cluster dials. Equipment is quite comprehensive, including features such as cruise control with speed limiter function, a navigation system with a 7-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, RDS/CD radio with MP3, iPod, USB and AUX connectivity, a six-speaker sound system and a panoramic sunroof.
Under the bonnet is the 1.6-litre turbo GDI engine producing 186 CV, which powers the new Hyundai i30 Turbo. It is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
In the active safety section, systems include ESC (electronic stability control), VSM (vehicle stability management), ABS (anti-lock braking system), BAS (brake assist system), HAC (hill-start assist control) and ESS (emergency stop signal), which makes the brake lights flash when an emergency braking manoeuvre is detected. Standard equipment also includes six airbags (front, side and curtain), to which a knee airbag can be added as an option.
The following video shows all the details of the new model from the South Korean brand in more depth.
