New Kia Magentis 2009

Following the facelift of the Hyundai Sonata, with which it shares parts and chassis, it’s now the turn of the Kia Magentis. The Magentis gets changes mainly to the front and interior, as well as an updated engine range, making it very complete in this respect, and comes with ESP as standard.

For now it has only been presented in Austria, but it will soon arrive in the rest of European countries. The front end is inspired by the Forte and the grille, in particular, reminds me of the previous generation of the current model (the one that only had petrol engines and was a little-known car to many people).

Inside there are no major changes, but quality is improved, and the controls are integrated, which benefits it. Both the climate control and the radio are integrated. This makes it better in quality, because the feel of the current climate controls was not very good, especially as they stood out so much from the centre console.

And the biggest surprise comes in the engine range: in petrol we have the 2.0i CVVT with 165 CV (the basic one) and a 2.7i V6 24v delivering 193 CV; and in diesel, the 2.0 CRDi VGT with 120 CV, the 2.0 CRDi VGT+ with 136 CV and finally a 2.0 DRDi VGT with 150 CV. For now we don’t know the prices for Spain, but they will be announced by the brand soon.
