New Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG

A new variant of the S-Class from Mercedes-Benz has been unveiled to the public. But this is not just another engine option; we are talking about the most powerful AMG alternative fitted to an S-Class to date.
The new S65 AMG will be officially presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with a parallel presentation at the Tokyo Motor Show, both coinciding in date.
Mercedes-Benz has not taken any risks with the design of the S65, as it is a copy of the one already known from the S63 AMG, the variant powered by the V8 engine.
That said, it is clear that this is a bold, aggressive vehicle, with performance within reach of very few sports cars. The exterior stands out for its newly designed bumpers, as well as a specific exhaust system and 20″ alloy wheels exclusive to the AMG versions.

In the interior there are no notable changes, except for slightly more enveloping seats, typical of the AMG versions, as well as different graphics for the instrument cluster and clock. There are also engravings with the AMG logo on various leather parts.
The engine is the most novel part of the package, although it is the already well-known V12 Biturbo within the brand V12 Biturbo. Boosted to 630 CV, it offers a maximum torque of 1000 NM, electronically limited so as not to damage the 7-speed 7G-TRONIC gearbox.

Performance is superb, as it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, reaching 250 km/h (electronically limited) with surprising ease for a luxury saloon exceeding five metres in length.
Fuel consumption is rated at 11.9 litres per 100 km on the combined cycle, equivalent to CO2 emissions of 279 g per km. According to the brand, the S65 AMG fits the most efficient V12 engine in the world.
As is typical of such exclusive versions, the equipment is very extensive, with standard features such as the Magic Body Control suspension, capable of reading road imperfections and adapting before reaching them. The ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist extension, which eliminates understeer in tight bends, is also fitted at no extra cost.
The Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG will reach dealerships in March 2014, with a standard price of around 230,000 euros.
