New Mitsubishi i-MIEV 2015, the Japanese electric car gets an update

One of the most special models of Mitsubishi is the i-MIEV, a small city car with a purely electric design, which was originally created in collaboration with the French group PSA. Years after its launch, the little Japanese car is being updated.

It is a fairly interesting update, not so much from an aesthetic point of view, since modifications are few, but rather on the technical and technological side, where the brand has put a lot of effort into improving its product.

The i-MIEV enters 2015 with renewed energy. To begin with, on the exterior the most significant improvement is found in the front headlights, which now feature LED technology. Thanks to this advance, the i-MIEV now lights the road noticeably better while consuming less energy. In the interior, there are also some variations. The most notable is the music system, which is now integrated into the centre console (previously it was an external unit fitted into the dashboard). This noticeably improves the look of the interior. Continuing with the interior, the heated seats now enjoy a larger heated surface, increasing comfort on board.

Other details added to the list of improvements include the inclusion of a tyre pressure monitoring system, as well as a function that illuminates the brake lights when strong energy regeneration occurs, even though the brakes are not applied.

In addition, one of the major improvements concerns the electric motor, which has been tuned to consume less energy, thus improving the vehicle’s range, which rises from 160 to 180 km according to the NEDC homologation cycle. The sale price has also been modified (for the better), so that the starting price is 24,400 euros, a figure that drops to 17,900€ if the currently available incentives are applied.
