New Opel Insignia, fitted with high-performance Hankook Ventus S1 evo tyres

Opel has chosen premium tyre brand Hankook to equip the new Insignia. The high-performance Ventus S1 evo tyres, which feature innovative “Sound absorber®” technology, have been designed specifically for the Opel Insignia and will be fitted as original equipment on the new generation of the model.

Engineers at Hankook have developed exclusively for the new Opel Insignia the Ventus S1: an ultra-high-performance (UHP) tyre in 18-inch size that features the latest sound absorption technology.

To achieve this “silent tyre” effect, a layer of special polyurethane foam is applied to the inner surface, specifically reducing noise inside the vehicle. This new Ventus S1 technology not only significantly reduces noise and weight, but is also more heat-resistant, which gives it improved load capacity and greater durability.

The tyre’s driving characteristics remain unchanged, while an optimised silica compound in the tread guarantees excellent grip and an improved environmental footprint. In addition, the lightweight carcass design offers a maximum contact patch under all conditions.

The innovative 3-layer block design inspired by DTM ensures a uniform contact patch on the tyre, thus guaranteeing traction and better braking performance on dry and wet roads. The Ventus S1 evo features wider tread grooves that improve grip in the event of aquaplaning.

This is not the first time Opel has worked with Hankook, as the manufacturer has previously designed special tyres for some models, such as the one created for the Opel GT Concept. Now it will do so for the Opel Insignia and its Grand Sport versions, as well as the Sports Tourer estate model.
