NIO ET9: the only vehicle in the world capable of shaking snow off itself

Nowadays, owners of electric vehicles who live in places where extremely low temperatures are recorded in winter are already used to scheduling their vehicle’s preheating so that, first thing in the morning, the vehicle is ready to start a new day, usually at work. With this procedure, the temperature of the battery and also of the cabin will be optimal, while also making any remaining snow on the vehicle disappear.

The Chinese manufacturer NIO believes, however, that there is a better method for getting rid of snow and has decided to implement it in its new flagship, the ET9 SUV. Although we don’t know what source of inspiration may have led one of the company’s engineers to propose this idea, we do wonder whether the daily walk with their pet may have had something to do with it.

NIO wants to make the ET9 the benchmark of the market in its segment, and this system is probably just a showcase of the technological arsenal this model has, starting with its suspension. The Chinese manufacturer claims that the ET9 is able to glide like a carpet regardless of road conditions, thus offering an unprecedented level of comfort for its occupants. To achieve this, the suspension system fitted to the ET9 is able to modify the height and stiffness of each damper almost instantly. A quality developed to make the driving experience far more pleasant, but which also allows, as a side effect, the vehicle to shake snow off itself on a cold winter day.

NIO is so sure that the ET9’s damping system is absolutely revolutionary that it recently published the video you can find below, in which the manufacturer’s flagship drives over a series of speed bumps with several champagne glasses on the bonnet without spilling a single drop.
