Nismo is making the Skyline GT-R RB26 again, at least its engine

Nismo Heritage Parts makes parts for the RB26DETT engine available to users, from the Nissan R32, R33 and R34 GT-R.

Nismo is making the RB26DETT engine again. This 2.6-litre twin-turbo unit was the heart of three of the legendary versions of the Nissan Skyline GT-R. The RB26DETT was gradually phased out with the arrival on the market of the new Nissan GT-R about ten years ago.

Now, Nismo has decided to bring this engine back to the market, and for many motoring enthusiasts, and especially those who love Japanese cars, this is great news. The sports division of Nissan, Nismo, had never stopped selling complete engines of this type, but at a rather high price.

Nismo is making the RB26DETT engine again and is making it available to users through the Nismo Heritage Parts programme. From now on, customers will be able to buy just the parts they actually need. In this way, fans of the Japanese brand will be able to build the engine of their dreams.

Through Nismo Heritage Parts you will be able to purchase the engine block, the crankshaft, the gaskets, the pistons, the connecting rods, the fuel pump, the main wiring harness and the complete exhaust, among other parts.

Nissan has also made two versions of the engine block available. On the one hand there is the standard version, which can be fitted to the Nissan R32, R33 and R34 GT-R, and on the other there is the so-called ‘N1 Block‘, which is specially designed for the R33 and R34 versions of the legendary Nissan.

The price of the standard-version block starts at around 1,300 euros, while the more robust version costs 3,400 euros.

It is important to note that this is not the first time the brand has launched Nismo Heritage Parts. It began developing the programme back in 2017, but at that time it only made parts for the Nissan R32 available to users. Since then, the programme of spare parts for the brand’s legendary models has been expanding.

In addition, Nissan has stated that the Nismo Heritage Parts programme will continue to grow as it receives requests and part-number enquiries through the ‘GT-R Community‘. Users will have to request the parts they wish to purchase through the programme’s website.

There is a catalogue of parts in stock and another in which users will have to request an order. As can be read on Nismo Heritage Parts, customers will have to wait until the number of requests needed for the batch has been reached. Once that happens, the requested parts will begin to be manufactured.
