Good news for the Franco-Japanese group, which has announced the sale of its 100,000th electric car. A figure reached by few manufacturers, and one that consolidates Nissan-Renault as one of the strongest brands in the electric field.

Reaching 100,000 electric units means avoiding the emission of 124 million kg of CO2 and the consumption of 53 million litres of fuel.

Without doubt, the star of the alliance’s electric range is the Nissan Leaf, of which over 70,000 units have already been sold since its launch in December 2010. More than 30,000 units have been delivered in the USA, 28,000 in Japan and 12,000 in Europe. In fact, the 100,000th unit is destined for a university student in Georgia, USA.
With a real-world range of around 120 km, the Leaf received a facelift earlier this year, adding some range to its batteries and introducing the option of battery rental, which significantly reduces its price.

In Renault, the Z.E range is broader, currently offering four models. In total, 30,000 units of the Renault Z.E have already been sold, making it the European manufacturer with the largest electric market share. Numerous awards have accompanied the electric versions of Renault, such as the 2012 Van of the Year for the Kangoo Z.E. One of its most groundbreaking products is the Twizy, built exclusively at the brand’s plant in Valladolid, Spain, for the world market. This small two-seater reaches 100 km of range and starts at 6,000 euros. The latest addition to the Renault group is the ZOE, which, with a theoretical range of 210 km and a body similar to the Renault Clio, promises to be a sales success.

The sales policy of Renault differs from that of Nissan, since in the case of the French, a further monthly amount must be added to the sale price for battery rental.
