Opel Cabrio: world premiere in Frankfurt with new generation of engines

The new version of the new generation of Opel turbo engines, the 1.6 SIDI 200 hp, makes its world premiere with the Opel Cabrio at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, joining the existing 1.6 SIDI turbo 170 hp engine.
The new 1.6 SIDI Turbo not only produces 11% more power, but also 300 Nm of maximum torque, 70 Nm more than its predecessor, the 1.6 turbo, an increase of no less than 30%. As a result, the Cabrio reaches a top speed of 235 km/h. Despite these high-performance figures, the mid-size convertible achieves fuel consumption of 6.7 l/100 km.

The Opel engineers also wanted to combine the power of these new engines with a pleasantly smooth driving experience. To this end, they carried out numerous optimisations to the intake and exhaust systems. As a result, the driver and passengers will notice smoother engine operation, with a pleasant sound quality even at high road speeds, high engine speeds and loads. All this, combined with the HiPerStrut front suspension system, further enhances these driving characteristics.
The new Opel Cabrio engine range will include four petrol engines available. The others will be the 1.4 turbo with 120 hp and the 140 hp version, as well as the 1.6-litre direct-injection petrol unit with 170 hp. As for the two diesels, the 2.0-litre turbo diesel with 165 hp and the 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI with 195 hp are available.
The Cabrio 1.6 SIDI Turbo with 200 CV/147 kW and six-speed manual gearbox will go on sale in Spain in February 2014.
