On the occasion of the dynamic presentation of the new Opel Combo Life and Combo Cargo, on September 26th, 2018, we had the opportunity to attend, gather information and test both models. The impressions were really positive, and now we will give you a summary of the best these new cars can offer us.

It is important to highlight that the manufacturing process of both vehicles took place in Spain, and that both models are aimed at a specific lifestyle.

Opel Combo Life: the best way to travel

The new Combo Life is presented as a spacious, family-friendly vehicle designed to deliver maximum comfort and technology on your trips. Thanks to its incredible interior space and its smart arrangement of compartments and options for distributing your belongings and luggage, it promises to become the perfect ally for your journeys.

The Combo Life is defined as a passenger vehicle that is a full-fledged car. It has all the features of the cars in the Opel range, which makes it unique in its segment.

Cutting-edge technology

The Combo Life also stands out for its technological options. To begin with, it includes 19 driver assistance systems, making it the only vehicle on the market that offers so many at the same time.

The reason for including so many assistance systems is, among other things, so that the technology remains up to date and does not become obsolete after several years of use.

Of course, it also has all the connectivity you may need, as well as compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Multiple engine and equipment options

The Combo Life is the only vehicle in its segment to include an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 6-speed manual option. Both will be available across its different engine options, in both petrol and diesel.

It can accommodate up to 7 passengers, since one of the options for the Combo Life is the inclusion of 2 extra seats for a total of 7 seats, so you will no longer have problems with large families.

The Combo Life comes in 3 versions with a 1.2 petrol and a turbo diesel engine: 75 CV, 100 CV and 130 CV. After testing the 130 CV manual version, I can state that the engine performs outstandingly, helped by its 205 Nm of torque.

Special mention goes to its steering wheel, which, in addition to having shortcuts to various functions, features a very comfortable design and ergonomics that convey a good feel, and even invite a more dynamic driving style, despite the Life not being the ideal vehicle for this type of activity.

Other features such as a power outlet of 230 W or an 8-inch screen will delight the most “tech-savvy” public.

All the space you may need

With the Combo Life, transporting luggage and objects will no longer be a problem. It has a total cargo volume of 2,126 litres and can accommodate items up to 3.05 metres long. For example, if you enjoy surfing, you will be able to fit your board inside the car by folding down the seats without the need for a roof rack, provided, of course, that it is not an excessively long longboard.

Apart from having an extremely tall boot, which improves its capacity when the rear seats are folded down, the Combo Life has many compartments in its design that will be useful for storing all kinds of objects. Especially noteworthy are the compartments in the upper part of the boot, which are innovative and comfortable for storing even small backpacks.

Comfort and relaxation for your journeys

The driving position in the new Combo vehicles is high and comfortable. Thanks to adjustable seats and an excellent design that allows you to reach the gear lever with ease, the Combo Life is a true pleasure during long journeys.

Another of the most notable aspects of its interior is its glass roof, divided in half by a wide ambient light, which is especially useful on camping nights, for example, to enjoy the starry sky before going to sleep.

Prices of the Opel Combo Life

The Combo Life is available in 3 trim levels: EXPRESSION, SELECTIVE AND INNOVATION.

The EXPRESSION trim is available from its most basic 75 CV version for €21,600. The SELECTIVE version is available from its most basic 75 CV version for €22,750. The INNOVATION trim, the most complete of the three above, starts with 100 CV at a total price of €25,650.

Opel Combo Cargo: the perfect vehicle for professionals

The Combo Cargo is presented as a commercial transport vehicle for professional use. It has all the features and benefits we have just presented for the Combo Life; however, its rear section, that is, its load area, is much larger and is specifically designed for transporting objects and goods.

It will be able to carry payloads of up to 1,000 kg and can accommodate up to a total of 2 euro pallets. Its loading floor length is 3,440 mm. It also has a load bar on the roof to help with positioning, loading and transporting especially long objects.

It also incorporates a technological system based on an LED circuit that indicates to the driver when the recommended total load weight has been exceeded, as well as showing whether more content can still be stored inside.

In this case, the orange LEDs act as a warning that the recommended load/weight capacity for the vehicle has been exceeded; if the LED is green, however, it means there is no problem and that you can enjoy a safe and pleasant journey.

Other interesting technological features of the Opel Combo Cargo include a 180º rear camera, which allows you to permanently monitor the load area. You will also have multiple charging sockets for your devices so that your vehicle becomes a “mobile office“.

It also includes the intelliGrip system, which adapts traction to the surface you are on to provide greater safety. An additional pack is also available for the vehicle called the “construction pack“. It is specially designed to help in this sector, raising the ground clearance by 30 mm among other useful additions.

Prices of the Opel Combo Cargo

The Opel Combo Cargo comes in 4 trim levels: EXPRESS, SELECT, ACTIVE, DOUBLE CAB.

Prices start at €21,800 in its most basic version, rising to €24,300 in the most complete one.
