Opel turns night into day with its new technologies

The new technologies of Opel will give you more safety and visibility on your night-time journeys, thanks to its adaptive IntelliLux LED matrix lighting system.

Opel is pioneering lighting technology for vehicles with its adaptive IntelliLux LED Matrix system. This addition promises not to dazzle other vehicles sharing the road while offering the highest possible quality of vision.

This revolutionary system was first presented in the current generation of the Opel Astra three years ago. Its construction is based on 16 LED segments (eight in each headlight), which constantly and automatically adapt the range and distribution of the light beam to each traffic situation.

Automatically, when detecting other vehicles, the system trims the range of the light beam to avoid dazzling. Thanks to this, safety increases considerably, as it no longer depends solely on human reaction in this type of situation.

In the words of many experts in the field:

“The matrix lighting technology of Opel is a great step forward in automotive lighting systems.”

Its operation is also very simple. When the vehicle leaves an urban area, this adaptive system switches on automatically and constantly adjusts, both in length and in the shape of the light beams it produces.

As a result, Opel vehicles equipped with this system “turn night into day” without dazzling other road users.

Opel engineers have increased the system’s effectiveness by incorporating 32 LED segments in the new models of the current Insignia range.

Each IntelliLux LED headlight also offers a long-range spot function that provides additional lighting of up to 400 metres when driving with high beams. In this way, the driver’s visibility over long distances is improved and they can spot, for example, animals crossing the road at a distance that another system would take longer to achieve.

This technology is available not only in the Astra and Insignia range, but also in the brand’s family of SUVs and in the Zafira.
