Peugeot Peugeot has revealed this morning a wealth of information and a good number of images of its new model, the 508, with which it aims to make its mark in the saloon market. The Peugeot 508 will be available in two body styles: saloon (4.79 metres) and SW (4.81 m).

Of its exterior, there is little we did not already know from earlier images, but it stands out for a new front grille and a redesigned headlight shape. On the other hand, the 508 saloon offers 545 litres of boot capacity, while the SW increases this to 660 litres, and in both cases the load capacity can be increased by folding down the seats.

Inside, it comes with very extensive equipment, where a four-zone climate control system stands out. Depending on the version, either as standard or as an option, it can add plenty of technology such as a colour Head-Up Display that displays navigation reminders, as well as high-beam assist, which means automated long-range lighting.

It also features an electric parking brake, electric lumbar massage for the driver, and a JBL sound system. The Peugeot 508 will also launch with a very wide range of engines, with a choice of 5 diesel and 3 petrol engines.

Let’s start with the diesels. The first is the 1.6 e-HDi, with 112 CV and 285 Nm of torque, featuring Start&Stop and a 6-speed automated gearbox. There is also the 1.6 HDi with 112 CV and 254 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Next is the 2.0 HDi, available in two outputs of 140 CV and 163 CV, with 340 Nm of torque. Finally, the most powerful is the 2.2 HDi with 204 CV and 450 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

In the petrol range, we have the 1.6 VTi with 120 CV and 160 Nm of torque, which also includes a 6-speed automated gearbox. The next is the 1.6 THP with 156 CV and 240 Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. In addition, the 1.6 HDi diesel and the 140 CV 2.0 feature turbo overboost function.

Of all these engines, the most notable is the 2.2 HDi with 204 CV, which will be fitted to a GT version with a specific chassis and trim. As for the HYbrid4 technology, it will be available from 2012 with a diesel HDi engine at the front and an electric rear motor, allowing a combined output of up to 200 CV with four-wheel drive.
