Pirelli reveals the numbers that sum up its season in Formula 1
The sole tyre supplier of Formula 1 has unveiled some curious numbers about its work in the championship, in which the teams have used more than 20,000 tyres from the Italian brand.

Now that the Formula 1 season is over, we have access to many numbers and statistical studies about the season. One of them is the one Pirelli has revealed about its numbers in the championship, in which we can see both interesting data and some rather curious ones, as the Italians have added some humorous notes to the study and have even calculated the number of kilos of tiramisu they served in their motorhome.
If we focus on the more serious data, we can see that the teams used 23,500 tyres during the season. Kimi Räikkönen was the one who reached the highest top speed with them, reaching 346 kilometres per hour. The compounds also had to adapt to completely different temperature conditions, from the 11º of the asphalt in the USA to the 55º that Pirelli’s engineers measured in Brazil.
Pirelli has a contract with the championship until the end of 2013 and wants the question of its continuity in the championship to be resolved as soon as possible. For next year, the brand has promised tyres with more degradation, in the style of what happened at the start of the season, since Pirelli’s managers believe that by the end of the year the teams had already got the measure of the tyres, which reduced the number of pit stops and the variability of the races.
