Porsche Eventos Salón de Detroit Supercars
Porsche 918 RSR
Finally the
Detroit Motor Show opens its doors, and behind them one of the most anticipated models of the moment: the completely radical and different concept that Porsche promised to all motor enthusiasts. This model has been turned into what is called Porsche 918 RSR and, as you can see, is nothing more than an evolution of the 918 Spyder Concept presented a few months ago at the Geneva Motor Show.
As the letters RSR indicate, there is no doubt that we are looking at a true competition supercar which, after undergoing changes, should make its appearance in 2012, so if you are interested you should start saving a few hundred thousand to acquire it and be able to compete behind its wheel.
Now, what does this model offer? According to Porsche, this competition supercar will mount a V8 capable of delivering 555 CV at 10,300 rpm which, together with the 201 CV generated by two electric motors coupled to the front axle, gives a final total of
756 CV, something that undoubtedly gives us goosebumps.
As you can see, Porsche continues to bet on hybrid technology as well as on hyper-technological models like this 918 RSR, where, among other things, to charge the batteries thanks to a new flywheel capable of spinning up to 36,000 rpm, and then, by pressing a button in the cabin, sends all the stored energy to the drivetrain to achieve that appetising “extra” of power.
Setting aside for a moment the mechanical performance of this powerhouse, as you can see we are basically looking at a 918 Spyder competition version, decorated and aerodynamically improved for the purpose, which we certainly like, especially in the photos taken directly at the Detroit Motor Show, where the German brand has undoubtedly made a big splash.
