Porsche K1 2027: everything we know about the luxury electric SUV with seven seats

The future flagship of the Stuttgart brand will have seven seats and will be fully electric.

The Stuttgart brand has been working for some time on a new luxury SUV, with seven seats and fully electric. There are many rumours about this new model, but from Zuffenhausen they will try to combine the merits of a sports saloon and an SUV, all without losing dynamism, off-road capability and luxury.

Some say that this SUV, internally known as Porsche K1, will become the new flagship of the German manufacturer. Everything seems to indicate that we will be able to see it in 2027, but for now we can learn some of its secrets. According to Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche, the new model could be “a very sporty interpretation of an SUV”, while experts describe it as “part saloon, part SUV”.

Pending confirmation, the new SUV is not expected to look like a large Cayenne, but it could feature characteristic elements of the Porsche Taycan or even the Porsche Taycan Porsche Turismo. As some sources have indicated, the bodywork will have an unconventional style, as it could combine a short bonnet with a raked windscreen, a curved roof and a raisable rear spoiler. At the same time, a sophisticated air suspension setup will allow the ride height to be adjusted according to the selected driving mode, transforming the vehicle from a grand tourer into an off-roader.

Porsche K1, can you wait until 2027?

In terms of dimensions, the new luxury Porsche could measure more than five metres in length and is expected to offer interior space comparable to that of the new BMW i7. Likewise, the new SUV will feature the latest available technology. During the early stages of development, the K1 project was intended to be built on a special version of the Volkswagen Group’s SSP platform. However, the plans have changed and it seems that the new king of the Zuffenhausen range will use a reinforced variant of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which was developed jointly by Porsche and Audi.

Although details are scarce, the latest report suggests that it will feature 920 V technology for ultra-fast charging speeds, with a large-capacity battery that will allow more than 700 km of electric range. Porsche is synonymous with high performance, so the electric motors will certainly generate immense power, well above the 760 CV and 1,050 Nm of torque that the Taycan Turbo S currently delivers. Of course, the model will offer four-wheel drive.

The as-yet-unnamed flagship of Porsche is expected to be produced at the Leipzig plant. Its 2027 launch date means it will arrive after the updated Taycan range, as well as the upcoming electric variants of the 718 Boxster/Cayman, Macan and Cayenne, further expanding the brand’s zero-emission range. As for pricing, expect a figure somewhat higher than any other current Porsche model.
