The MotoGP World Championship holds its fourteenth Grand Prix of the season this weekend, on 21, 22 and 23 September: the 2018 Aragon GP. The riders arrive at the Motorland circuit, in the Aragon town of Alcañiz, where the third of the four World Championship Grands Prix held in our country takes place.

Motorland is a circuit that suits Spanish riders quite well. Excluding the first two years of the Aragon GP, in 2010 and 2011, when victory went to Casey Stoner (once with Ducati and once with Honda), victories in MotoGP have always gone to Spanish riders. Dani Pedrosa, once, Jorge Lorenzo, twice, and Marc Márquez, three times, are the ones who have won the most recent editions of the race on the Aragon track.

That said, a high-level duel is expected between Marc Márquez, for whom every Grand Prix that passes is one race fewer before he celebrates a new title, and Jorge Lorenzo. Of course, we mustn’t forget Andrea Dovizioso, who also arrives in great form, as he showed at the recent 2018 San Marino GP, where he claimed his third victory of the season.

In both Moto2 and Moto3, this Aragon GP has also been traditionally favourable to the interests of Spanish riders. So let’s see whether Jorge Martín, leader of the small-bike category, can secure a win that cements him in that top position, and whether we can see the first Moto2 victory for one of our own, in a category that Italy’s Bagnaia continues to dominate.
