First sketches of the new generation of the Audi TT

Audi TT 1

Audi has unveiled the first drawings of what will be the third generation of its compact coupé, the TT. Although its launch is not planned until 2015, Audi will reveal it physically at the next Geneva Motor Show.

There is no need to recall that, just a month ago, Audi showed us the complete interior of the new TT, an interior that will follow the fluid and distinctive lines of the exterior.

According to the drawings the German firm has made public, the new TT will continue with the master lines of its predecessor, since, as is customary at Audi, evolution prevails over revolution.
That is why the new TT will blend its own features with others borrowed from its bigger sibling, the R8, in order to create a more aggressive and attractive design.

This new generation introduces details such as the brand’s new trapezoidal grille and LED headlights, both front and rear, as well as more prominent wheel arches that add width to the overall look.

The TT will be built on the Group Volkswagen modular platform (MQB), which already underpins many models such as the VW Golf, the Audi A3 and the Seat León, among others.
Thanks to this, the bodywork will be lighter and cheaper to build, improving on the figures of the previous generation.

The engines will also be taken from the Group Volkswagen shelves, with turbocharged 4- and 5-cylinder units, with a maximum output that will reach around 380 CV in a hypothetical TT-RS.
The transmissions will be manual and automatic with 6 and 7 speeds, while quattro all-wheel drive can be combined with certain engines.
