PSA Group will begin its autonomous vehicle trials in Singapore this year
PSA Group has announced an agreement with nuTonomy under which it will install nuTonomy’s autonomous driving software in the Peugeot 3008 and carry out tests in Singapore

Today we are increasingly accustomed to collaboration agreements between brands to develop autonomous vehicles, refining and developing the technology needed to reach Level 5 autonomous driving. The task is arduous; in fact, FESVIAL has reported more than 150 serious problems that still need solutions before reaching the final product.
But to solve these problems, brands are already working with alliances with software developers, such as the one just announced between the PSA Group and nuTonomy. nuTonomy is a company that develops software for autonomous vehicles, founded by two robotics experts from MIT, and it is already running road tests with its vehicles in the city of Boston.
Now, through this strategic agreement with the PSA Group, nuTonomy will extend its software to Singapore, where it will begin testing by integrating the software into the Peugeot 3008. These models will be prepared by the PSA Group’s innovation teams, which will install on them the software, sensors and data platforms developed specifically by nuTonomy.
This agreement is part of the programme known by its acronym AVA, Autonomous Vehicle for All, from the PSA Group, as part of its strategic “Push to Pass” plan presented last April, with which the French manufacturer has the ambitious goal of becoming the preferred mobility provider worldwide, in addition to being one more manufacturer proposing solutions in autonomous mobility technology.
For both companies this agreement is considered decisive, as it implies large-scale deployment of autonomous vehicles, and it will allow them to see how their autonomous vehicle system behaves, as well as the experience of customers driving this type of vehicle in an environment as complex as the urban one. And they won’t have long to find out, since the integration of the system into the Peugeot 3008 is scheduled to be completed before summer, so that testing in Singapore can begin next September.
